Rice Kitchadi ( Gujarati Special)


Ingredients

Rice     : 1 cup
Green Gram Dal    : 3/4 cup
Jeera              :  1 tbsp
Ghee             : 2tbsp
Asafotida      : 1/2 tsp
Turmeric powder
Salt

Method

Soak the green gram dal for 2 hrs for best results.
Wash both the rice and dal .
Heat ghee in a pressure cooker .
Add jeera and asafotida and stir till jeera starts to pop.
To this add 4 to 41/2 cups of water , turmeric powder ,salt and mix well.
Close the pressure cooker lid and wait for 5 whistles.
Open the cooker when it is done and serve with kadhi.
Kitchadi and kadhi is the ultimate combination .
